Where is my stopcock?
Usually under the kitchen sink, sometimes in a downstairs loo or an airing cupboard. Turn it clockwise to shut the water off. If you cannot find it, ring us and we will talk you through it while an engineer is on the way.
Do you charge more at night or weekends?
There is an out-of-hours rate after 6pm and on Sundays, and we tell you what it is on the phone before you commit to anything. There is never a call-out charge on top.
Can you deal with my insurer?
Yes. We provide a written report with photographs and an itemised invoice, which is what most home insurers ask for on an escape-of-water claim.

Ceiling came down in the hallway at half eleven at night. Rang Halden's, a real person answered, talked me through finding the stopcock, and had someone here in forty minutes. Made it safe that night and came back to do it properly on the Monday. Cannot fault them.
Three quotes. Two firms sent salesmen who did the whole 'discount if you sign today' routine. Halden's sent an engineer who looked at the radiators, explained why 30kW was overkill for our house, and quoted less. Fitted in a day, heating back on by six.
